Token standards, decentralized exchanges, stablecoin rails and composable applications demonstrated real developer demand. Congestion, exploits and governance complexity demonstrated the costs.
Evolution is the evidence
Ethereum moved from proof of work to proof of stake and shifted scaling toward rollups. Ethereum.org explicitly warns that the 2014 white paper no longer reflects the network as it is today.
