Different coins, different jobs

A functional map of Bitcoin, smart-contract assets, payment assets, oracle tokens and stablecoins—without treating tickers as interchangeable.

A ticker tells you what an asset is called, not what job it performs.

Why it matters

Comparing every cryptoasset by price alone erases the liabilities, rights, security assumptions and demand drivers that distinguish them.

Native monetary and fee assets

BTC is native to Bitcoin and is used for value transfer and fees under a fixed issuance design. ETH, SOL and ADA are native to programmable networks where assets help pay for computation and participate in network economics.

Similar labels do not create identical rights. Monetary policy, validator or miner incentives, governance and state design differ by protocol.

Payments and infrastructure

XRP is native to the XRP Ledger's payments-oriented system. Litecoin is a separate proof-of-work network derived from early Bitcoin code, with its own supply and security market.

LINK is not a general-purpose network coin in the same sense; it participates in oracle and interoperability services that deliver information or messages across systems.

Stablecoins are liabilities or mechanisms

A fiat-backed stablecoin normally represents an issuer claim whose quality depends on reserves and redemption. Crypto-collateralized and algorithmic designs depend on different liquidation, governance and market assumptions.

The shared price target does not make the risk identical. Ask who owes what, what backs the claim, who can freeze or upgrade it, and where redemption occurs.

A better comparison

Compare purpose, control, issuance, security budget, holder rights, liquidity, custody and failure modes. Then separate use of the network from demand for its token.

A network can be useful while its token is poorly valued; a token can trade actively while its underlying use remains thin.
